Things my Husband cooks for me: Pizza!

Hey hey hey!

This kind of weather makes me want to eat watermelon, ice cream, and smores. BUT that wouldn’t be a part of a balanced diet, and I already told you about my hubby’s ice cream making skills.

PIZZA is his favourite food, and it’s my favourite thing that he makes. Ever since we started dating, he has often made homemade pizza for supper. You probably have already made pizza yourself, but my hubby doesn’t dig the all-dressed kind, or the usual pepperoni and cheese. He draws his inspiration from his Sicilian roots, and he likes to experiment with his ingredients.

It’s very simple: he uses ready-made dough (which you can find at any bakery) which is enough to produce two pizzas. He stretches it out, and lightly spreads oil all over the top. He puts the dough in the oven for 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees Farenheit.

Once the dough is just a little golden (not fully cooked, but not raw) he removes it from the oven to cover it in the most delicious topping ever: bruschetta! You can make it with chopped tomatoes, onions, garlic and shallots olive oil, and with dashes of salt, pepper and oregano. Once covered, put it back in the over for another 5 minutes or so. Take out the pizza, and cover it with a few slices of prosciutto and, the piece de resistance… sliced mozzarella di buffala (a soft Italian cheese.) The fact that those last two ingredients aren’t baked makes the pizza so fresh and tasty! Slice it up and devour.

Pizza is always great, but it’s even better when it’s homemade (…and when you don’t have to lift a finger to make it ;)


·         -Pizza dough
·         -Olive oil (some for brushing the dough, a few teaspoons for the bruschetta)
·         -Approx. 4 tomatoes
·        - 1 small onion
·         -2 shallots
·       -  1 clove of garlic
·         -dashes of salt, pepper and oregano
·         -approx. 5 slices of prosciutto

·     -   approx. 1 ball of mozzarella di buffala
