Hey hey!
Hope you’re all enjoying the summer heat
and humidity, I know I am! This week, I’m switching gears completely. After 12
weeks of writing about Instagram, it would be nice to let you into my life a
little more. Nothing crazy intimate, but it does involve the husband!
See, my hubby loves
to cook. He may not do it everyday or even every week, but when he does, it’s
almost always a hit. He’s not a chef by profession, and what he knows, he
learned at home. Being from an Italian family, he simply couldn’t escape the
culinary arts. He makes traditional Italian dishes, and even (when the mood
strikes) desserts!
Lately, he’s been
on an ice cream kick (how convenient.) Our very good friend gave us an ice
cream making machine last December as a house warming present. Have you ever
bought yourself one of these? It’s just not something we ever saw ourselves
buying, but when we read how simple it was to make homemade ice cream, we never
looked back.
He made a simple
vanilla flavor the first few times, with a hint of cinnamon. Cray-zee good!
Honestly, it put commercial ice cream to shame. Last Friday, we had a few of
our friends over for a barbecue, and ice cream would be the perfect dessert in
this heat. This time, the Mr. got a little wild: he poured in a cup of espresso into the mixture. The result
was to-die-for! Needless to say, our guests ate it all up! (They turned down the
cannoli, but they devoured the ice cream!)
I made him promise
me to slow down on the ice cream production. I changed my eating habits this
past year, and ice cream should be a rare treat. In the mean time, I’ll wait
for his next creation!
