How to have the BEST outlook on Valentine’s Day!!

When I was 17 and sorta heartbroken, I read a really great article around Valentine’s Day. I still remember it today, and I haven’t had any second thoughts: I love Valentine’s Day! I fully embrace the cheesiness of this “holiday”. I make cards, I wear hearts, and I buy stuffed animals. I do it all.
Where does my affection for February 14th come from? Well that article (from some teen magazine I picked up at the time) said that, even if you’re single, you gotta celebrate loving yourself. It’s true; I’m a firm believer in the idea that you have to love yourself before you love anyone else. Bake yourself some cupcakes (who said you had to share?) Buy yourself a new outfit, and wear it on a girls’ night out! Wear your comfiest pajamas, light some candles, and watch Bridesmaids (with a glass of wine!). Make yourself happy first, and your Valentine’s Day will be the best one yet. Also, I don’t think it just applies to all the single ladies (*cue Beyoncé!*). If you’re in a relationship, there’s no written rule that you can’t treat yourself AND be treated like a queen by your significant other on Valentine’s Day.

The second reason why I love Valentine’s Day so much is that it isn’t just for romantic love. It’s about all kinds of love! You love pasta in rosé sauce? Eat some. You love your cat? Hug it. You love your mom? Call her! You love watching 90210? Buy the DVD box set! There is not one person in the world that can say that they don’t love anything. So it’s important to remember that celebrating love isn’t just cupid’s job. Celebrating love is fun, and you should embrace WHOLE HEARTEDLY!
