is a #Girlboss, which is, in her own words, a girl who “is in charge of her own
life. She gets what she wants because she works for it.” In her book entitled
#Girlboss, she explains the alternative path she took to becoming the woman she
is today (from petty theft to millionaire CEO… not bad!) Success is not given;
success is earned. She dishes out advice that is straightforward and does not
sugar coat the tough parts. “You are not a special snowflake.” In a world where
everything seems to be rewarded with a special mention, it is refreshing to be
reminded that hard work leads to success.

I’ve
been following @sophia_amoruso on Instagram for a while now, and I really dig her
style. Not just in the fashion sense, but also her approach on life. I don’t
think her book is simply directed towards those who are focused on success in
business. I think #Girlboss is a great read for anyone who would like to get
further ahead in any career. In fact, I think both men and women should dive
into this book. While the title is girl-oriented, being the boss of your own
life is an excellent lesson for anyone.
