Montreal's Sixth Annual Oysterfest #MTLOysterfest

Last Sunday, I got to check out the Sixth Annual Montreal Oyster Festival at les quais du Marche Bonsecours. I was really excited because I’m all about outdoor food festivals. (I’m all about food. Period.) First of all, there were TONS of oysters to enjoy at a reasonable price. (I heard there were 18,000 oysters… and that they were almost sold out by the end of the day!)

If I thought oysters were enough to get me out there, I was wrong. Some of Montreal’s trendiest restaurants were present, and they were serving some serious bites. Industria was serving porchetta sandwiches. (How to explain porchetta: think of a méchoui-style roasted pig, but Italian!) The smokey, barbecue smell was infatuating from the moment we set foot on site. There were also the people from La Société preparing oyster po-boys and oyster bloody casears… So good! My husband tried a shrimp roll from Zeegrub.com, a catering service in the city. It was non-stop eating for a solid two hours.
And what’s a food fest without beer? There were a few local bars serving beer and mixed drinks to satisfy the thirst of all festival-goers. Montreal’s English pub Burgundy Lion probably had the most popular tent with its enthusiastic bartenders and ever flowing brew.

We seriously stuffed our faces with incredible food last weekend. Montreal’s Oyster Festivall has been growing in popularity over the last few years, and I look forward to checking out the next edition. See ya next year, shuckers!
